How do inmates gain muscle
I had no friends. Getting to the point where I could take care of myself, it was evident form the very beginning that it was going to be absolutely necessary. There was no gym in the county jail where you were held during trial. How did you work out? I would walk the length of the foot cell and back and do 25 push-ups.
I would do it for one hour, I would do it for two hours. I would get a minimum of push-ups—regular, elevated, diamond push-ups.
Another day I would do pull-ups. They had a stairway and there was no backing to it. I would do five pull-ups then walk back and forth and then another five pull-ups. It was quite large—it probably held four gallons, five gallons—and we would wrap the laundry bag through the handles and we would do curls with that. Basketball helped me develop a lot of relationships. In prison, friendship is not "having friends.
You stay by yourself. The only places you really interact are on the card table or on the basketball court. Card tables cause fights—I stayed away from that. The basketball game there is like street ball. You never call fouls unless you get really beat up. I actually learned a lot from that movie. We develop strong likes and dislikes, and like fat bumblebees, we bounce from fitness flower to flower, sampling all the different nectars, yet never attaining the depth of immersion a man confined to a single choice is forced to embrace.
Being forced to use a single mode and single tool can be turned into an advantage. So should you. We can learn valuable lessons from the astounding gains made on wholesale basis by prison lifters.
Let us start with the obvious: when it comes to building muscle, intensity and consistency trump all other considerations. The only things the prisoner has going for him are he can be consistent and he can be intense.
Prisoners are consistent because they are locked up with nothing better to do; prisoners train intensely because ferocity is a highly valued trait in prison society. There is no lack of training intensity in the communal weight yard of a serious prison. This is an alpha male environment that places a high value on excelling. When you lift, you represent your clique or sect.
Those of us on the outside need to push up to or past capacity — the inconvenient truth is only by extending and exceeding our current progressive resistance limits and capacities are we going to trip the hypertrophy tripwire: the adaptive response, the fight-or-flight syndrome onset that triggers the hormonal tsunami only occur when we are attacking our limits.

Intensity: the prisoner is looking to equal or exceed his current capacity in some way in every session. There is no sub-maximal coasting in the yard. Short sessions: no time for long leisurely sessions, training time using equipment is limited to minutes per day. Train hard, heavy and fast. You might be right but it's hard to get regular increments of food first a one time steroid donation.
Yeah some inmates probably do alcohol you're most likely right. The ones you gain muscle probably aren't drinking a lot tho. Thanks for reading and thanks for the comment! That's not how steroids work though.
They only work with consistent cycles, the minimum being 6 weeks to see any decent results. I realize not all steroids come in the form of a suspension liquid, but the most effective ones do. This would make it inherently more difficult to get, as then they would also need access to the needles along with a way to hide 10ml bottles. Wo this is very interesting.
Does this have a Buddhist influence? Very neat. Did you like my article's content though? Cool post man. In other words, it's the prison experience for private school kids lol. Keep it up! Con Body. Sounds cool.
I'll have to check it out when I come visit! Prison experience for private school kids haha that's hilarious! They work out. A lot. Many begin the day they arrive, and never stop.
Some prisons offer weights and tracks, basketball courts and the like, others offer farmwork. Yet they are still twice as jacked as most guys you see at the gym every day…. They literally have almost NOTHING to work with …but there are a few things that separate these bad dudes from the rest of us normal dudes. They are training to survive. Just imagine being chained up and locked up for 10 or 20 years or more …surrounded by dark concrete walls, an impenetrable cage with thick metal bars, barbed wire, violent psychopaths, and armed guards who are constantly on edge….
It is literally hell on earth — and yet these guys still go out there each day and train with one thing on their minds. They HAVE to get strong. They HAVE to train hard. They HAVE to build their bodies for combat. These guys are training to be ass kickers, so they have no choice but to just man up and train like freaks.
The ultimate goal is survival. They attack their workouts with a relentless aggression because they want to and NEED to be bigger, stronger, faster, and more mentally tough than the other guy just in case they get attacked without warning. Lucky for you though, you are free and not a prisoner. So advantage, YOU. In fact, you are reading this page right now which means you have access to the internet, so advantage YOU again. Clearly you have just about every advantage possible over the average inmate…so you can probably see where I am going with this….
Be realistic, but train your ass off.
